Charlie Cooper Quartet

Charlie Cooper writes vintage soul, updated perfectly, sung with deep and husky soul-pipes!

charlie.jpg

Not only comparable with classic voices like Dusty Springfield and Shirley Bassey but also up there with
modern soul divas Alice Russell and Sharon Jones, Charlie is a vocal force to be reckoned with.
The songs emerge from another time, influenced by the classic songwriting and arranging of
Bacharach and Hal David, accompanied by grooves akin to old school Stax and Motown. Charlie
invites you in for a glimpse into her mind and her world, whilst her band ("The CC's") kick it like
Booker T and the MGs.

Superb talent and excellent musicality”” Great charm and positivity coupled with that little bit of magic which all good performers have

If you listen to the unique vocals of Lucy Mae once, you’ll know it’s her for a lifetime. Deep & husky tones, with little hints of Soul.

lucmae-1024x1024.jpg

If you listen to the unique vocals of Lucy Mae once, you’ll know it’s her for a lifetime. Deep & husky tones, with little hints of Soul reminiscent to the great singers of way back when Lucy was raised in Manchester to an English mother & Spanish father, music from all around the world was embedded into her mind from an early age and as she grew, that mind did too.

Now, ask the songstress where she draws her influence from today and you’ll be given an array of history, including - 90’s RnB, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, The Cinematic Orchestra, Buena Vista Social Club and Hendrix. There is no set Genre here, just a delicious cocktail of one woman’s musical journey. That niche genre has catapulted Lucy into Manchester’s music scene, specifically the Jazz scene (not just in Manchester in fact, but the UK as a whole).

2017 saw her debut at her Cities most famous music event - Manchester Jazz Festival, with rave reviews. Following this she has recently supported YolanDa Brown and performed sell out shows across the country.

Prima

Classically trained with powerful and soulful vocals, Prima’s powerful and soulful vocals sores on top of trap/soul bangers effortlessly, creating a unique and spectacular blend of light and dark.

prima.jpg

Somewhere in the heart of Manchester, on the top floor of an old factory mill; you can hear the rumbling of distorted 808 bass…

…the sound of skippy hi hats, lush synth layers and snapping snare drums which clatter like machine gun fire in battle!

Then suddenly, without warning, you're stopped firmly in your tracks as the soul-steeped voice of Mancunian recording artist "Prima" pierces through the speakers and you realise what we have here is someone truly remarkable!

Prima is a singer/songwriter from Manchester UK, who's classically trained background has her steeped in musical heritage from an early age.

Her powerful and soulful vocals sore on top of trap/soul bangers effortlessly, creating a unique and spectacular blend of light and dark.

Working with some of the UK's most well respected producers and MC’s, Prima is fast becoming an exciting name in all the right circles and you can feel a real underground buzz surrounding her movement.

Add to that the overwhelming support she's received from BBC Introducing and subsequently BBC 1Xtra who selected Prima's song "What Ru Saying?" for "track of the week" (adding it to the very prestigious BBC 1xtra playlist) it's clear to see that Prima is going to be a real handful...... a PROBLEM!

Collaborations forthcoming with Zed Bias, Black Josh, Dyno, SHAPES, Virus Syndicate, Binky and more, with a trilogy of releases waiting to unleash and a bag of other tricks in her box there is no stopping this hype train.

So jump aboard, hold on tight for the ride.... and in the words of Prima "let's ride this sh*t till the wheels fall off".

Baked A La Ska

Baked A La Ska are the “heavy heavy sound” of Manchester, a super charged 11-headed ska monster on a rampage through the dance floors of the UK leaving a trail of skanked out bodies in their wake.

DvqDgICX4AAiYO6-1024x800.jpg

It’s a band of assembled oddballs and pranksters brought together by keyboardist and wizard Mr John Ellis, fronted by an un-holy trio of singers: Frank “The Skank”, Tommy Robot and Kuntri Ranks, who combine with the soft lilt and harmonica magic of Robin Sunflower. Baked A La Ska also feature one of the tightest rhythm sections in Manchester with the “chops to make you drop”.

The band have release four acclaimed albums showcasing their trademark mix of spaced out and spooky originals plus quirky covers that have been put through their ska machine.

Baked A La Ska are synonymous with legendary shows at Manchester’s Band On The Wall and have performed riotous sets at the Kendal Calling, Matthew Street, Saddfest and Hungry Pigeon festivals.
